TRYOUTS:
MSC Thunder is currently looking for a full-time, dedicated goalkeeper whose objective is to continue to improve in order to achieve play at the highest level. We provide comprehensive, advanced goalkeeper training. Thunder is also welcoming inquiries from field players interested in high level and competetive play. Overview
MSC THUNDER is a dedicated and cohesive U13 team with highly skilled and friendly players from primarily the Bethesda, Chevy Chase, Kensington, and Rockville areas. In Fall 2012, THUNDER finished 2nd in the competitive WAGS D3 bracket, which should clinch a D2 placement for Spring 2013. The team also won both the Columbia Fall Classic and SAC Elite Columbus Day tournaments.
Philosophy
MSC Thunder players and families make a significant commitment to soccer, with a major emphasis on skill development, quality of play, good sportsmanship, and having fun! The team will play fall and spring seasons (practice 2x/week), participate in a winter session and a one-week summer camp, and attend 3-4 tournaments/year.
Coaching
Ritt Dallaire has coached 4 daughters over the past 19 years and currently holds NSCAA Advanced and Regional Licenses as well as an E License. He has coached in the WAGSL travel soccer league up to the Division 1 level. Many of his former players went on to become captains of their high school teams, while two went to the state championships and one was recognized as an All-Met player of the year.
Mark Banfield was an NCAA Division I and II player as well as reaching the ODP Regional and semi-pro levels. Mark has trained both male and female goalkeepers who have gone on to succeed at all levels of college play. They include a national champion and several players who have earned All-WCAC, All-County, All-State, State Cup Champions, and All-Met honors. Mark has trained keepers and coached for many travel and club teams including Seneca, Takoma Park, MSI, Laurel, and Calverton. He currently serves as the Varsity Assistant Coach at Paint Branch High School.
